This site is focused on reviews of new music coming out, events in the SF area, and my podcast. Because of this I can't keep up with the huge amount of mixes that come out so I'm going to put links to people that do an excellent job:

Mixpak records continues their already excellent podcast with the second edition coming from Washington D.C.’s Nadastrom (Twitter). Diversity on these first two episodes makes me extremely excited for what’s to come. Sounds on this vary from excellent reworkings of dancehall and hiphop tunes over a personal favorite classic riddim the Bookshelf, to a little Moombahton session and some fully electronic bass music. Also included is the Nadastrom remix of Mele’s Bombay which I positively can’t get enough of. Check out Mele’s Bombay EP if you slept on it. Do it now.
This mix is pure summertime. Move your stereo onto the porch, clear an area for dancing, grab a cold drink & play at maximum volume.

Dubbel Dutch (Soundcloud, Twitter) hailing from Austin comes with more goods for today with an exclusive mix for URB magazine and a free tune featured on FACT. The mix showcases a blend of funky/house/bass styles chock full of dubplates from Dubbel Dutch himself, Bok Bok, Ghosts on Tape and more. Keep a lookout for this man, he’s been representing the Lone Star state to the fullest.
Paired with this URB mix he’s got a free tune out thanks to FACT magazine which is a remix of Parson’s “I Rep the Dirty South” done up in a funky/bass style that I’ve glibly called Funky South. Look out for more along these lines from Sines who’s been putting out some great dirty south juke/bass tunes lately. You can grab the tune over at FACT for a week only!

Sam Supa, first known to me as an organizer of the classic dubstep/garage/grime night Grime City, comes with a fresh new direction with his most recent mix called “Prince Zammy Lost My Way”. This mix starts off firmly in house/funky territory with a big Drop The Lime remix from (former?) Fabric resident and Grizzly head Sinden. The beats then mutate throughout the mix, some straight ahead, and some thoroughly syncopated. Top notch selections throughout. The mix builds towards an end firmly rooted in dubstep territory, spanning a wide variety of bass music sounds in the process. Sound of 2010.

Zeno just put together this excellent mix “Red Dragon” for mass consumption. It weaves in and out of mellow dubwise selections and dubstep that will mop the floor with your face and is packed with original productions from Zeno himself. Truly excellent blends in this one too. Look out for the wolves inside, there’s two of them and they have lasers. Zeno said that he’s put his blood, sweat and tears into this one and it shows.
If you’re in the Denver area look for Zeno playing out at Sub.Mission or the Denver Surefire chapter. For those in the bay we’ll get a taste this July. Full list of future shows here, and click here to download this mix.
Kush Arora, the ambassador of Dread Bass from San Francisco, has just put together a four-track EP of songs that are some hybrid of funky, dubstep and hiphop. The first track “Humidifier” stands out on the release personally, with an epic intro that builds over nearly three minutes until the tension is released via a mutated funky drop. Next up on “Empty Alleys” Kush takes it to in-your-face halftime dubstep but adds soca style snares which do a great job of complementing the wobble and halftime beat. Peak intensity music. On the third entry Bakir from The Spit Brothers joins up with Kush to tackle a remix of Maga Bo and K-Libre. K-Libre is a Moroccan MC and “Nakhil” ends up sounding like a more dubsteppy version of DJ Vadim & the Russian Percussion. Last up is an edit of the intro tune “Humidifier” that’s more DJ friendly, keeping the impact of the main section but without the long, and percussion-sparse build. Great release all told. This one’s out now @ Juno, May 18 on other e-music sites.

On top of this release, Kush has just put together a mix of funky/dancehall & bashment vocalists which is positively hype. If you aren’t trying to dance, don’t put it on. If you’re looking for a workout on the other hand, throw away that exercise video and get after this:
Distal is always pushing the boundaries of sounds people use from synthesizers (and samples) and consequently this mix is almost opposite to the sounds in the recent mix from The Spit Brothers. Alien noises will keep your mind wandering over dance-inducing rhythms. Definitely loads of big tracks inside this mix. Look out for Distal come 2010, already with 3 releases out on Rogue Dubs, Car Crash Set and Embassy. Distance recently dropped his tune “Space Graffiti” on Rinse.FM, Julio Bashmore featured “Notlanta” on his mix for Mary Anne Hobbs, and other like-minded selectors have been pushing this sound. Futurism.
Bakir & Dubsworth form The Spit Brothers, a duo based in San Francisco focusing on the use of live instruments in bass music who just put out a mix for 2010 that has more exclusives than a Washington DC dinner party. The two are prolific and write excellent music using Dubsworth’s guitar skills & Bakir’s various talents on instruments like the clavinet, trumpet, flugelhorn, and keys. Oh, and also bass. Lots of bass. Highlights on this come from their own label Dubs Alive along with releases on Brap Dem, Full Melt and Sub Life. Lots of the tracks on this are slated for release on a Spit Brothers full-length album coming sometime in the future so keep your eyes out for that one.
This music draws from all sounds: synthesizers, samples, instruments, vocals, pretty much anything. For your eardrums. Click the arrow on the widget below to download this one.

The last entry for Valentine’s Day and probably my favorite of the three, though Sines’ mix is damn good also, comes from Praveen (Percussion Lab, Sepalcure). I’ve got more info on Sepalcure coming soon, and some of their tracks featured tomorrow on my Dubstep.FM radio show, but until then get to know about this sound – lovestep. This mix is the second foray into this sound from Praveen and he executes it like a pro with this mix, selections are just excellent. Check out the tracklist here, and visit Percussion Lab for streaming & download of the set. Keep a lookout for Sepalcure also.
